SABC TV’s interview with Omphile Khutsoane, education officer of the SAEON Arid Lands Node, was broadcast with the news on the evening of 6 June
In a blog for The Huffington Post, entitled " Cameras for Conservation: New technology Helping Developing Countries", South African conservation biologist Lauren De Vos writes about the pioneering work SAEON scientists Dr Albrecht Götz and Dr Anthony Bernard are doing in the application of baited remote underwater-video systems (BRUVs) to monitor marine protected areas.
In an article "South Africa hake celebrates third successful certification", published in the online newsletter of the Marine Stewardship Council, SAEON scientists and their partners in the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the University of Cape Town and the South African National Biodiversity Institute are commended for the research they are undertaking as part of the Benthic Trawl Experiment. The study monitors ecosystem recovery.
